Kanao is a young girl with delicate features and long, black hair partially streaked with a violet lock. Her hair is tied at the side, with a hydrangea flower as an ornament. She has large, blue-violet eyes that often seem absent or thoughtful. Her Demon Slayer uniform consists of black-and-green clothing topped with a light, gray haori.
She is usually quiet and reserved, partly as a result of her traumatic childhood. Raised by Shinobu Kocho, she was taught that she had no right to her own emotions, which means she has trouble expressing herself and making decisions. Even so, under the influence of the series' heroes, especially Tanjiro Kamado, she begins to open up and express her feelings.
Exceptionally determined and focused, which makes her one of the most promising young Demon Slayers. Despite her reserved character, she is exceptionally brave and ready to make many sacrifices to help others.
